It’s the first blog post of the year! Welcome to 2019 and thank you for continuing the journey with me thus far! 2018 was certainly one for the books. One of my biggest blessings of last year was the gift of exploration. I began the year starting a non-profit with my ex, went on to suffer a miscarriage, jumped out of my comfort zone to start a blog, went through heartbreak, spent the summer on a journey of self-discovery, lost one of my best friends, met an amazing new group of friends, hosted my first event, and now we’re here! Throughout every experience, I learned a new lesson and couldn’t be more grateful for where I am. I truly believe that I needed to feel those things in order to be filled.

Going into 2019, I wanted to try something new. Unlike most people, I have never been one to develop New Year’s resolutions or goals. However, because I have many plans this year I feel it is important to set goals for myself going forward. One important lesson I learned in 2018 is that your mindset determines the level of success you reach with your goals. So, here they are!

2019 New Year’s Goals

  1. Lose weight. In the past two years, my life has been extremely up and down causing my physical health to fall down a few notches on my priority list. Currently, I am the heaviest I’ve ever been and for a while it contributed to my insecurity. I had made several attempts at joining group fitness classes, getting a trainer, going on numerous fasts, and drinking weird detox teas – however nothing had been sticking. I realized that I was doing it for all the wrong reasons, which was contributing to my lack of motivation. I now recognize how much I love who I am and therefore, I am willing to take the time to pace myself and commit to becoming a better version of myself. This year my health goal is to lose 30 pounds.
  2. Grow my brand. This year I created my blog because of the work I was doing with the young ladies of my after-school program. In such a short period of time, my audience and impressions have grown to a place that I had never anticipated. Now that I have gotten just a glimpse of the potential my blog and brand have, I want to see what else I can do – possibilities are endless! This year my business goal is continue the brunch series in select cities and *DRUMROLL PLEASEEEEEE*.. start vlogging! I have been toying with the idea of sharing video of my life and recording discussions with guests on the variety of topics I cover – I can’t wait for it to come to fruition.
  3. Further my transformation. As I mentioned, 2018 was a huge year of growth for me. While I resisted change for the first half of the year, I found myself embracing all the new things happening in my life toward the latter of the year. I find myself thrilled at the thought of more change because I know I am not done yet. I have only reached the beginning on the journey to self-love! I look forward to the new lessons and love I grow in 2019! Who’s ready for the ride?

What are your New Year’s goals or resolutions? What will you do differently this year than you have in the past? Drop a comment or shoot me an email, I’d love to hear all about it!
